Q. Which of the following organ has papillary muscles?

Jharkhand CECEJharkhand CECE 2002

Solution:

Papillary muscles attach to the vanes of the A-V valves by the chordae tendineae. The papillary muscles contract when the ventricular walls contract but contrary to what might be expected, they do not help the valve to close Instead they pull the vanes of the valves inward towards the ventricles to prevent their bulging too far backward toward the atria during ventricular contraction. Ciliary muscles (in ciliary body), circular and radial muscles (in iris) are found in eyes. Mammary glands are modified apocrine sweat glands. Abundant adipose or fatty tissue usually surrounds the alveoli and ducts so that a considerable adjacent part of the skin is raised into the form of breast.
