Q. Which of the following molecules is a primary acceptor of $CO_2$ in photosynthesis?

KVPYKVPY 2016

Solution:

The primary carbon dioxide acceptor in $C_4-$ plant is phosphoenol pyruvate, it contains $3$ carbon atoms, e.g. maize, sugarcane, etc. In $C_3-$ plants, Ribulose $1, 5$ Bisphosphate (RuBP) is the primary $CO_2$ acceptor, it is a $5$ carbon compound, e.g. in beans, rice, etc. Thus, according to question , option $(c)$ is correct.
