Solution:

A cricket player lowers his hands while catching a cricket ball to reduce the impulse of a force. In catching a ball a player by drawing his hands backwards increases the time of contact and so, lesser force acts on his hands and his hands are saved from getting hurt. This is not an example of Newton's IIIrd law of motion.
