Q. Which of the following is not always present in monocotyledonous seeds?

AIIMSAIIMS 2019Morphology of Flowering Plants

Solution:

A monocotyledonous seed has a single cotyledon known as scutellum whereas epiblast represents rudiments of second cotyledon. It has shoot apex and few leaf primordia enclosed in a hollow foliar structure called coleoptile whereas radicle and root cap are enclosed in a sheath called coleorhiza. Perisperm is the remnant of nucellus in seed. It is often dry and nonfunctional. It is present in only few monocot and dicot seeds.
