Q. Which of the following is not a macromolecule but present in an acid-insoluble fraction?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Biomolecules

Solution:

Lipids are not strictly macromolecules but are present in the acid-insoluble pool because lipids are arranged in cell membranes when tissue is grounded, cell membrane, and other membranes are broken into pieces, and forms vesicles which are not water-soluble, thus they get separated in the acid-insoluble pool. Lipids are monomers and not polymers, hence they cannot be considered as macromolecules.
