Q. Which of the following is not a colligative property?

VMMC MedicalVMMC Medical 2010

Solution:

The properties of the solution which depend upon only on the number of solute particles but not on the nature of the solute are called colligative properties. Colligative properties are relative lowering in vapour pressure, elevation in boiling point, depression in freezing point and osmotic pressure. Hence, optical activity is not a colligative property.
