Fabaceae is a subfamily of Leguminosae which mainly comprises of roots, herbs, shrubs and trees. The floral characters of such plants involve bisexual, zygomorphic flowers with five sepals of valvate or imbricate aestivation. The corolla has five separate petals (polypetalous), papilionaceous and vexillary aestivation. The androecium of Fabaceae is diadelphous and the gynoecium is monocarpellary, unilocular with a single style and many ovules, a superior ovary and the seeds may vary from one to many but without endosperms.
