Hormones are secreted by the endocrine cells in one part of the body and carried by the blood to another part where they stimulate or inhibit the specific physiological process. The hormones have low molecular weight molecules and are specific in their action. These acts in very low concentration, are quick-acting and are non-antigenic. The hormones are mostly short-lived and have no cumulative effect, after their action, they are removed from the liver and kidney.
