NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Chemical Coordination and Integration

Solution:

The parathyroid glands produce parathyroid hormone. This hormone helps maintain an appropriate balance of calcium in the bloodstream.
Functions of Parathyroid hormone (PTH):
$1.$ PTH increases the process of bone resorption or dissolution (demineralisation) of bone.
$2.$ PTH stimulates the reabsorption of $Ca^{2 +}$ by the renal tubules.
$3.$ PTH increases absorption of $Ca^{2 +}$ from the digested food.
$4.$ All above actions of PTH increases the blood $Ca^{2 +}$ levels, thus PTH is a hypercalcemic hormone. PTH and TCT plays a significant role in maintaining the calcium balance in the body.
