There are five DNA polymerase enzymes that participate in the process of DNA replication -
DNA polymerase I, II, III, IV, and V
DNA polymerase I and III involved in Replication and have Proof Reading Activity.
5’→3’ Polymerizing activity
3’→5’ Exonuclease activity
DNA Polymerase II, IV and V involved in repair machinery and do not have a proofreading activity. DNA polymerase also is known as DNA Dependent DNA Polymerase.
