Q. Which of the following compounds contains(s) no covalent bond(s) ?
$KCl, PH_3, O_2, B_2H_6, H_2SO_4 $

JEE MainJEE Main 2018Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure

Solution:

$KCl -$ lonic bond between $K ^{+}$ and $Cl ^{-}$

$PH _{3}-$ Covalent bond between $P$ and $H$

$O _{2}-$ Covalent bond between $O$ atoms

$B _{2} H _{6}-$ Covalent bond between $B$ and $H$ atoms

$H _{2} SO _{4}-$ Covalent bond between $S$ and $O$ and also between $O$ and $H$.

$\therefore $ Compound having no covalent bonds is $KCl$ only.
