Kingdom Monera comprises of unicellular, prokaryotic organisms. Some of the bacteria are autotrophic but vast majority are heterotrophs, i.e., they depend on other organisms or on dead organic matter for food. They have peptidoglycan cell wall and genetic material lies freely in the cytoplasm, known as nucleiod.
