Q. Which of the following are possible values of n, I and m for an atom having maximum value of $ m=+2 $ ?

BVP MedicalBVP Medical 2010

Solution:

If $ m=+2,l=2 $ [ $ \because $ $ m=-l $ to $ +l $ ] and $ l=n-1 $ $ 2=n-1 $ $ \therefore $ $ n=3 $ Hence, when $ n=3, $ $ l=2 $ , the maximum value of m is $ +2 $ .
