Solution:

Pigments are substances that have an ability to absorb light of different wavelengths. Cholorophyll a absorbs light of visible spectrum having wavelength between 400nm to 700nm. Absorption spectrum shows the ability of chlorophyll a pigment to absorbnlights of different wavelength. Maximum absorption by chlorophyll a occurs in the blue and red regions, also shows higher rate of photosynthesis.
