Q. Which is the unit of DNA?

Chhattisgarh PMTChhattisgarh PMT 2010

Solution:

DNA is bound to proteins in the nucleus forming a complex called chromatin. In a cell that is not dividing, the chromatin is strung out looking like strands of microscopic pearls. But as a cell begins to divide, the DNA coils more tightly around the proteins condensing to form shortened, thickened structure called chromosome.
