Q. Which is a reducing sugar?

JIPMERJIPMER 2002

Solution:

Glucose, fructose, mannose, galactose are hexose monosaccharides. The monosac charides have free aldehyde or ketone group which can reduce $ C{{u}^{++}} $ to $ Cu $ . Therefore, these are called reducing sugars.
