Biological Classification

Solution:

Cyanophyta is popularly known as blue-green algae. They reproduce by vegetative and asexual methods. Asexual reproduction takes place by akinetes, exospores, endospores, etc. Akinetes are thick walled structures which survive unfavourable conditions. These are the principal organs of perennation in cyanobacteria. Sexual reproduction is absent in this class. In chlorophyta, isogamous, anisogamous and oogamous type of sexual reproduction occurs. In xanthophyta and rhodophyta, sexual reproduction is always isogamous.
