The nuclear membrane disintegrates at the end of prophase, and the disintegration of the nuclear membrane marks the beginning of metaphase. In metaphase, chromosome starts moving towards the centre of the cell and gets organized in one straight line to form metaphase plate. Spindle fibre attachés to the kinetochore of each chromosome from each pole.
