Q. Which among the following salts, solubility decreases with increase in temperature ?

MHT CETMHT CET 2019

Solution:

For $Na _{2} SO _{4}$ salt, solubility decreases with increase in temperature because reaction of $Na _{2} SO _{4}$ with water is an exothermic reaction, i.e. $\Delta_{\text {sol}} H < 0$. As a result solubility decreases. For $NaBr , NaCl$ and $KCl$, the dissolution process is endothermic.
