Q. Where is blind sac body plan found?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

Blind sac body plan is the body type of the organisms where the body resembles a blind sac with only one opening, i.e., they ingest and eject the food through only one opening. The body has a single cavity which functions both as a digestive tract and a coelom both and has one opening to the outside. This opening acts as a mouth for ingestion (intake of food) as well as an anus for egestion (undigested waste is passed out). Such a type of digestive tract is called incomplete. Animals having blind sac body plan show tissue level body organization. The cells are specialized, organized into tissues and show division of labour. It is found in coelenterates and flatworms. In coelenterates, the opening is guarded by tentacles which helps to catch the prey. The digestion is extracellular and takes place in the gastrovascular cavity.
