Based on the distribution of yolk, the eggs are of three types. They are:
(a) Isolecithal or Homolecithal egg: A minimal amount of yolk and uniformly distributed throughout the ooplasm
(b) Telolecithal egg: A moderate or large quantity of yolk with uneven distribution and concentrated more towards the pole. In the vegetal pole, the concentration of yolk is more and in the animal pole, the level of the yolk is lesser. Telolecithal eggs are present in reptiles, fishes, amphibians, aves.
(c) Centrolecithal egg: A relatively large amount of yolk and a thin cytoplasmic layer cover the yolk's surface.
