Q. When $CH _{3} COONa$ is added to an aqueous solution of $CH _{3} COOH$

Equilibrium

Solution:

Dissociation of $CH _{3} COOH$ is suppressed by the addition of sodium acetate $\left( CH _{3} COONa \right)$ due to common ion $\left( CH _{3} COO ^{-}\right)$ effect. The $[H^+]$ decreases raising the $pH$ of the acid solution.
