Gattermann Koch reaction: When benzene or its derivative is treated with carbon monoxide and hydrogen chloride in the presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride, it gives benzaldehyde. In Gattermann Koch reaction anhydrous aluminium chloride works as catalyst. It is an electrophilic substitution reaction.
