Q.
What weight of hydrogen at STP could be contained in a vessel that hold 4.8 g of oxygen at STP
States of Matter
Solution:
According to Avogadro's law, equal volume of all gases under similar conditions of temperature and pressure contain equal number of molecules.
As such
No. of molecules of $H_2$ = No. of molecules of $O_2$
$\frac{w \times N_0}{2} = \frac{4.8 \times N_0}{32}$
where $N_0$ = Avogadro's number $(6.02 \times 10^{23})$ and $\omega$ = mass of $H_2$ (in g)
$ \therefore \, \omega = \frac{4.8 \times 2 }{32} $ = 0.3 g
