Q. What is the role of Pseudomonas in the soil?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Ammonia is oxidized to nitrite by the bacteria Nitrosomonas and Nitrococcus. The nitrite is further oxidized to nitrate with the help of the bacterium Nitrobacter. These steps are called nitrification. Nitrate present in the soil is also reduced to nitrogen by the process of denitrification, which is carried by bacteria Pseudomonas and Thiobacillus.
