Q. What is the length of the simple pendulum which ticks second?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

The time period of a simple pendulum is
$T=2\pi \sqrt{\frac{L}{g}}$
where $L$ is the length of the pendulum.
or $L=\frac{g T^{2}}{4 \pi ^{2}}$ …(i)
The time period of the simple pendulum which ticks seconds is $2s.$
$\therefore \, \textit{ }T=\text{ 2 }s$
Substituting in (i), we get
$L=\frac{\left(\right. 9.8 m s^{- 2} \left.\right) \left(\right. 2 s \left.\right)^{2}}{4 \times \left(\right. 3.14 \left.\right)^{2}}=1m$
