Q. What is the intensity ratio of the used light sources if intensity ratio of the maxima and minima in an interference pattern produced by these sources is $9:1$

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

$\frac{I_{m a x}}{I_{m a x}}=\frac{\left(A + B\right)^{2}}{\left(A - b\right)^{2}}$
$\therefore \frac{9}{1}=\frac{\left(A + B\right)^{2}}{\left(A + B\right)^{2}}or\frac{3}{1}=\frac{A + B}{A - B}$
Or $2A=4B\Longrightarrow \frac{A}{B}=2$
$\therefore \frac{I_{1}}{I_{2}}=\frac{A^{2}}{B^{2}}=\frac{4}{1}$
