Q. What is the equivalent mass of $IO_{4}^{-}$ when it is converted into $I_{2}$ in acid medium

Redox Reactions

Solution:

Equivalent mass$=\frac{Molecular\, weight}{Change \,in\, oxidation \,number\, per\, mole}$
Suppose molecular weight is M
Oxidation number of $I_{2}$ in $I_{4}^{-}$ in
Acidic medium i.e., $I \times (-8 ) + 1e^{-} = + 7$
So eq. wt. $= M/7$
