Q. What is correct order of decreasing ionic character?
$PbCl_{2}\left(\right.I\left.\right);PbF_{2}\left(\right.II\left.\right);PbI_{2}\left(\right.III\left.\right);PbBr_{2}\left(\right.IV\left.\right)$

Solution:

According to Fajan's rule, as the size of anion increases, covalent character also increases and ionic nature decreases so the correct order is
$PbF_{2}\left(\right.II\left.\right)>PbCl_{2}\left(\right.I\left.\right)>PbBr_{2}\left(\right.IV\left.\right)>PbI_{2}\left(\right.III\left.\right)$
