Q.
What for the ascending limb of loop of Henie is permeable?
Chhattisgarh PMTChhattisgarh PMT 2006
Solution:
The thin segment of the ascending limb of Henle's loop is structurally like the descending limb, but its permeability is different. It is quite permeable to Nad but not to water. Due to decreasing osmolality of medullary interstitium towards cortex, the tubular fluid, therefore, loses $Na^ +$ and $Cl ^{-}$by diffusion, again becoming diluted and isotonic to plasma without changing in volume.
