Q. Vegetative propagation in mint occurs by

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

Sucker is a way to spread vegetative reproduction. It is a branch of a plant that is not a green branch from the ground of the shoot or crown. It grows horizontally in the ground and eventually emerges to form a new shoot or crown.
Vegetative propagation by sucker is a method of asexual reproduction occurring in plants in which a new plant grows from a fragment of the parent plant. The banana plant also grows by suckers. Each sucker has leaves with scales and axillary buds.
The runner is seen in lawn grass which is a cylindrical and long internode that helps in propagation. The offset is a structure, similar to a runner found in the Eichhornia plant. Both runner and offset are sub-aerial modifications of the stem.
A Rhizome is found in turmeric, ginger, etc. which is underground, horizontally growing, profusely branched stem with scale leaves.
