Q. Vascular plants which produce seeds but not fruits belong to the group

COMEDKCOMEDK 2009Plant Kingdom

Solution:

The term "gymnosperms" (Gynmos = naked, Sperma = seeds). was coined by Theophrastus (300 B.C.). Gymnosperms are naked seeded plants having freely exposed ovules on megasporophylls. They do not possess an ovary and hence do not produce a fruit. They act as connecting link between pteridophytes and angiosperms.
