Q. Unpolarized light of intensity $x$ is incident on a polarising sheet. Intensity of light which does not get transmitted is

Wave Optics

Solution:

Polariser transmits energy travelling along a single plane.
Energy transmitted is $\frac{x}{2}$
Hence energy left behind is $x-\frac{x}{2}=\frac{x}{2}$
