Q. Two trains each of length $50\, m$ are approaching each other on parallel rails. Their velocities are $10\, m / sec$ and $15\, m / \sec$. They will cross each other (in $\sec$) ?

Motion in a Straight Line

Solution:

The effective distance travel by each train $=100\, m$
and the relative velocities $=(10+15)=25\, m / s$
$\therefore $ time to cross each other $=\frac{100}{25}=4\, \sec$
