Q. Two spherical conductors each of capacity $C$ are charged to potential $25\, V$ and $10 \,V$. These are connected by a wire then the loss energy will be $( C =5F )$

Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance

Solution:

Energy loss $=\frac{1}{2} \frac{ C _{1} C _{2}}{ C _{1}+ C _{2}}\left( V _{1}- V _{2}\right)^{2}$
Energy loss $=\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{5}{2}\right)(15)^{2}$
Energy loss $=281.25 \,J$
