Q. Two spheres of same size are made of same material but one is hollow and the other is solid. They are heated to same temperature, then

Thermal Properties of Matter

Solution:

Here, we know that both the body is made up of same material, hence its orientation will do not affect it's expansion.
Hence, $\frac{\Delta V _{\text {solid }}}{ V _{\text {solid }}}=\frac{\Delta V _{\text {hollow }}}{ V _{\text {hollow }}}=\gamma \Delta T$
Therefore we can say both sphere will expand same, because material used for making both of them are same.
