Q. Two sound waves of intensity $2 \,W / m ^{2}$ and $3\, W / m ^{2}$ meet at a point to produce a resultant intensity $5 \,W / m ^{2}$. The phase difference between two waves is

Solution:

$ I=I_{1}+I_{2}+2 \sqrt{T_{1}} \sqrt{T_{2}} \cos \phi$
$5=3+2+2 \sqrt{6} \cos \phi$
$\therefore \cos \phi=0$
or $\phi=\frac{\pi}{2}$
