Q. Two separate air bubbles $(r_1 = 0.02 \,cm, r_2=0.04\,cm)$ formed of same liquid T = 0.07 N/m come together to form a double bubble. Find the radius and sense of curvature of the internal film surface common to both the bubbles

Mechanical Properties of Fluids

Solution:

$r = \frac{r_1 r_2}{r_2 - r_1}$ As the excess pressure in smaller towards concave surface & pressure in smaller bubble is greater than larger bubble, the common surface is concaw towards the centre of the small bubble
