Q. Two metallic concentric shells are shown. Before closing the switch charge on inner shell is $Q$ and charge on outer shell is $2 Q$. Potential at point ' $A$' is $V$. What will be potential at same point after closing the switch :-Physics Question Image

Solution:

$V _{ A }=\frac{ kQ }{ a }+\frac{ k (2 Q )}{2 a }=2 \frac{ kQ }{ a }= V$
$V _{ A }^{1}=\frac{ k ( Q +2 Q )}{2 a }=\frac{3 kQ }{2 a }=\frac{3}{2} \times \frac{ V }{2}=\frac{3 V }{4}$
