Q. Two metal spheres of same mass are suspended from a common point by a light insulating string. The length of each string is same. The sphere are given electric charges $+ q$ on one end and $+4 q$ on the other. Which of the following diagrams best shows the resulting positions of sphere?

Electric Charges and Fields

Solution:

Coulomb's force on each bob due to other will have equal magnitude and mass of both the bob is same. So deflection in both spring will be same.
