Q. Two identical containers contain equal amounts of the same ideal gas at a temperature $T_{0}$ and pressure $P_{0}$ . Now the two containers are connected through a tube having negligible volume and one container is heated to $2T_{0}$ while the other is kept at $T_{0}$ . The final common pressure will be

Solution:

$\frac{P_{0} V}{R T_{0}}+\frac{P_{0} V}{R T_{0}}=\frac{P V}{R T_{0}}+\frac{P V}{R 2 T_{0}}$
$2P_{0}=P+\frac{P}{2}$
$2P_{0}=\frac{3 P}{2}$
$P=\frac{4 P_{0}}{3}$
