Q. Two heater wires of equal length are first connected in series and then in parallel. The ratio of heat produced in the two cases is

Current Electricity

Solution:

$H_1 = \frac{V^2t}{2R}$ ( $\because$ R' = R + R =2R) $H_2 = \frac{2V^2t}{R}$ $\left ( \because \frac{1}{R'} = \frac{1}{R} + \frac{1}{R} = \frac{2}{R} \right)$ $\therefore $ $\frac{H_1}{_2} = \frac{1}{4}$
