Q. Two cubes each weighing $22\, g$ exactly are taken. One is of iron $\left(d=8 \times 10^{3}\, kgm ^{-3}\right)$ and the other is of marble $\left(D=3 \times 10^{3} \,kgm ^{-3}\right)$. They are immersed in alcohol and then weighed again

Mechanical Properties of Fluids

Solution:

Since, density of iron is more than that of marble, the volume of iron is less than that of marble for the given mass. The upthrust of water on iron will be less than that on marble. Due to which iron cube will weight more.
