Q. Two containers $A$ and $B$ of similar size and shape is made different material. If same quantity of ice takes $t_{1}$ and $t_{2}$ time to melt in the containers $A$ and $B$ respectively, then calculate the ratio of their thermal conductivities.

Solution:

Heat conduction is given by,
$\frac{Q}{t}=\frac{k A \Delta \theta }{l}\Rightarrow k \propto \frac{1}{t}$
$\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}}=\frac{t_{2}}{t_{1}}$
