Q. Two conductors identical in shape and size but one of copper and the other of aluminium (which is less conducting), are both placed in an identical electric field. In which metal will more charge be induced?

BHUBHU 2006

Solution:

In case of induction maximum induced charge is given by
$q=-q\left[1-\frac{1}{k}\right]$
Since, in electrostatics, for metals (either copper or aluminium)
$k=\infty, q^{'}=-q$, i.e.
in both the metals induced charge will be same.
