Solution:

$T=\frac{2 m_{1} m_{2}}{m_{1} + m_{2}}g=\frac{2 \times 4 \times 2 \times 10}{4 + 2}$
$=\frac{160}{6}=26.6=27 \, N$
Total downward thrust on the pulley
$=2T=2\times 27=54$ N
