Q. Turbellarians are free living

Solution:

On the basis of mode of life, presence or absence of digestive system and cilia on body wall, the phylum platyhelminthes (flatworms) is divided into three classes :
(i) turbellaria,
(ii) trematoda and
(iii) cestoda. Turbellarians are free-living worms called planarians. They are terrestrial, marine or freshwater. Body unsegmented, flattened and is covered with ciliated cellular or syncytial epidermis, containing mucus secreting cells and rod-shaped bodies called rhabdites. Suckers absent. Tango, chemo and photoreceptors common in free-living forms. Mostly hermaphroditic. Examples are Dugesia, Euplanaria, Notoplana, etc.
