The Lily family or Liliaceae family is one of the large and economically important monocotyledonous families. The flowers are bisexual, petaloid, 3+3, 3 in each row and trimerous in nature showing radial symmetry (actinomorphic). There are six free stamens and hence show polyandrous conditions with dithecous anthers. Tricarpellary, syncarpous and superior ovary with either trilocular or unilocular condition having two ovules with axile placentation is observed.
