An antibody is a Y-shaped structure with two heavy chains and two light chains on the variable regions of both these chains antigen binding site is present. The heavy chains and light chains have disulfide bonds and noncovalent bonds between them. Based on the differences in the heavy chains of immunoglobulins, five classes of antibodies are known: IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD.
