Immense diversity (heterogeneity) exists in our biosphere, not only at the species level but at all the levels of biological organisation ranging from the macromolecules within cells to biomes.
Sociobiologist Edward Wilson described the combined diversity at all the levels of biological organisation. These are genetic diversity, species diversity and ecological diversity.
